Paige Buckingham, MS, CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Paige Buckingham, M.S., CCC-SLP. I bring more than 35 years of experience to the field of speech-language pathology, including 32 years in public schools supporting students from birth through age 21. Throughout my career, I’ve served as a speech-language pathologist, general education teacher, and Special Education Facilitator, with a passion for helping students with complex communication needs find their voice through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology.
Today, my work focuses on helping educators, therapists, and school teams implement effective AAC systems while understanding the critical role that vision plays in communication. As more students with Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) are being identified, I have become increasingly passionate about supporting teams in designing AAC systems that are accessible, individualized, and grounded in current research. To strengthen my expertise in this area, I completed the Perkins School for the Blind coursework to earn a certificate in CVI.
In addition to my work in AAC and CVI, I continue to support schools in developing sustainable Assistive Technology services. I co-created sections of the Kansas AT Guide, have guided districts through Assistive Technology systems implementation, and currently serve as the Assistive Technology Lead Facilitator for Kansas Infinitec, where I facilitate Sustaining Assistive Technology Services (SATS) teams and provide technical assistance across Kansas.
Through Buckingham Educational Services & Training (BEST), I have the opportunity to present nationally as a keynote speaker, pre-conference presenter, and workshop facilitator. I love sharing practical, evidence-based strategies that educators can implement immediately to improve communication, participation, and learning for students with complex needs. I’m also the co-author of Harnessing Collective Efficacy in AAC (2025, with Beth Zillinger, Closing the Gap Magazine).
Whether I’m presenting to a conference audience or coaching a school team, my goal is the same: to help professionals feel confident supporting students with complex communication and visual needs so every learner has meaningful opportunities to communicate, learn, and succeed.
